The enquiry that goes cold while you are up a ladder
A home theatre installer's best enquiries arrive while they are on another job. Here is the problem we are working on with our third client, and how an agent could keep those enquiries warm.
A home theatre or private OTT room is a considered purchase. The customer has a room, a budget, and a picture in their head. The enquiry that starts it all often arrives at the worst possible moment for the installer: mid-morning, halfway through wiring someone else’s ceiling.
By the time the installer is off site and free to reply, hours have passed. Then the real work starts: a room layout, an AV specification, a rental or build quote. That takes time to put together properly. Meanwhile the customer, still excited, is getting quicker replies from someone else. The slot they wanted gets booked.
The honest math, in round numbers while we gather the real ones with our client. A same-day quote, sent while the customer is still picturing the room, converts better than one that arrives a week later. An installer who is both the technician and the salesperson cannot do both at the same time. So the enquiries that land during site hours are the ones most at risk, and for a small operation that can be most of them.
The agent is built to answer while the installer cannot. It reads the enquiry, the room size, the seating, the budget, drafts a layout and an AV quote, and can hold a slot the moment the owner says yes. The owner signs off the quote and the booking. Nothing is committed without them.
The forecast we will stand behind: the gain here is not a clever number, it is time. The enquiries being lost are the ones waiting a day for a reply. Turning a day into an hour, with a real quote attached, is the target we are setting with our client.
We are in discovery now. Nothing is live yet. This is the problem, stated plainly, and the work we are doing on it.
